General information

Frances King School of English in London is the ideal place to improve your English for personal, professional or academic reasons.The school in Kensington consists of two buildings; one is opposite Gloucester Road underground station and the other is a short walk away in Wetherby Gardens.The world-famous Victoria and Albert, Natural History and Science Museums are just minutes away. Beautiful Kensington Gardens and Kensington Palace are at the end of the street. Frances King Kensington has advanced technologies such as interactive whiteboards and online learning tools, and Wi Fi in both buildings to offer the latest tools to students. There are 25 spacious light classrooms, 8 one-to-one classrooms, a self-access study centre, a computer laboratory, common areas with refreshment facilities and a student services office.

Family programme

Junior course is designed for 8-16 year olds. 7 year olds are accepted if an older sibling is also taking a course. The emphasis is on spoken English and communication activities. New language – vocabulary, colloquial English, idioms, grammar – is introduced and practised in small groups. Imaginative activities and group project work encourage real communication and rapid learning and there may be a visit to a local museum or park. While their children are at school in the morning, parents and other adult family members have the option of also taking a course at Frances King. In the summer parents may take the Family Programme Adult Course and older brothers and sisters a General English course. Outside the summer they can choose from the range of General English programmes or, for those of 21 or over, a Club 8 programme. 

Activities and excursions

Families are free outside class times to enjoy London’s many attractions and can take part in a special family activity programme. Juniors must be accompanied by an adult family member. Activity programmme includes 3 afternoon activities per week, participants are invited to visit the capital's museums and exhibitions, to see the sights of London. During the weekend it is possible to visit Cambridge, Oxford, Bath, Brighton or Eastbourne. 


Frances King School offers several accommodation options: accommodation in hospitable British families in zones 2-3 in London. The road to the school takes 30-60 minutes by public transport. You can choose different types of board: breakfast; breakfast and dinner; breakfast every day and dinner 4 times a week; accommodation in a studio apartment or a hotel.
