F+U Academy of Languages

The F+U language school is situated in the middle of the university city’s historic centre, and just a few metres from the Neckar. The school building offers fantastic views of the Old Town, the castle and into the Neckar valley. Today, the F+U Academy of Languages is one of the largest language schools in Germany. Approximately 9,500 language learners and exam candidates a year participate in the language courses and examinations. Every year, learners come from over 100 countries to participate in the German courses.

Thanks to its internationality, the school offers a unique opportunity to get to know people and their various languages and cultures, and to practise freshly acquired language skills, whether during break-time conversations in the corridors or in the school’s atrium, or while participating in the cultural and sporting activities offered every day. With 70 multimedia-equipped classrooms (up to 85 in summer), 3 Internet rooms with 50 PCs, free Internet access and Wi-Fi and a central location in Heidelberg, the Academy of Languages offers everything to ensure that the language learning experience in Heidelberg is an exceptional one.

The programme includes 20 lessons at 45 minutes from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 12:15. The lessons are held by highly qualified native speakers. The language lessons do not focus on teaching grammar; instead, the programme aims to create age-appropriate lessons in which learners are familiarised with the English/German language and culture. The classes are held in the fascinating form with application of various interactive methods.

The F+U Academy of Languages believes that the friends students make during their stay in Heidelberg are as important as the lessons they learn. Social events allow students to practice language in a natural environment both with other students and with native speakers. 

The Leisure activities include: orientation tour of Heidelberg, Fairytale Paradise on Königstuhl, Heidelberg castle, Landau Reptile House, Mannheim Planetarium, Sinsheim Technikmuseum, sports activities, group cookery, walking on the Heiligenberg, visit to Thingstätte and much more. The cost of the programme includes the orientation tour of Heidelberg and visit the old town. The cost of additional excursions is from 3 to 35 euros.

The students stay with a carefully selected host family. The students are accommodated in comfortable rooms with all amenities for 2 people.The family provides half board (breakfast and evening meal). Students can have a tasty lunch in a cafe near the school.

Alternatively, students can stay in one of the numerous school residences in double rooms. All residences are equipped with kitchens. The group leader is provided with a single occupancy ( in family / residence).
