General information

Edinburgh School of English was founded in 1969 and has gained a reputation as one of the UK’s leading English language schools. The school stands proudly on the historic Royal Mile – the most famous street in Scotland. Edinburgh School of English is housed in a magnificent 1820’s building. Behind the facade, the building has been transformed into a bright, well-equipped and modern English language school. Over the years, it has developed a variety of intensive English language courses to suit both adults and young learners.

General English Course

Students are offered classes at all levels, from beginner to advanced, and on arrival each student is assessed and placed in the most appropriate class. Learners spend 15 hours (20 lessons of 45 minutes) in the classroom each week. Edinburgh School of English strives to provide the highest quality courses in the UK. With small classes, an extensive activity programme and staff ready to help at every stage of the enrolment process, School ensures students receive the most from their language experience.

Activities and excursions

Students are offered 4 afternoon and 3 evening activities per week from Monday to Friday. Such activities include lively entertainment, from supervised discos to Scottish evenings and treasure hunts. All students go on a full day excursion on Saturdays or Sunday. Students are offered to visit Edinburgh Castle, Scotland museum, National Gallery, Royal Botanic Garden, Falkland Palace, Loch Lomond lake or see the sights of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling.

Accommodation

Edinburgh School of English has a range of homestay who provide a friendly and welcoming environment in which to practise English. All families are carefully chosen to ensure that high standards are maintained. All families have a double room. The programme includes two meals a day in the family and lunch in school on weekdays, all meals in the family on weekends, as well as a ticket for public transport.
If you stay in the residence you are accommodated in single room with shared bathroom and toilet. Breakfast and dinner are organized in the residence, lunch is provided at school. The price includes a shuttle service from the residence to the school.
